Teacher and student collaborating on a sustainability poster
We're proud to deliver our sessions in local schools

About our Sessions

We offer schools 45–60 minute sessions for 14– to 18– year-olds, currently focusing on the West Midlands and neighbouring areas. Our sessions follow a carefully designed lesson plan informed by discussions with teachers, researchers, sustainability professionals and feedback from students within our target audience.

Users explore exciting areas in physics, completing virtual activities such as building their own solar cell and viewing the inside of a fusion reactor in operation. They can also learn about everyday technologies that have evolved from the efforts of astrophysics. Soon to come is an experience highlighting climate modelling in an interactive environment. We also provide up-to-date insights into careers and what it’s like to study STEM subjects at university through discussions with our outreach team, current physics students and recent graduates.

Sessions are delivered by our trained outreach team who arrive with all equipment required, including the VR headsets and additional resources for all activities. Standard sessions will be delivered in a classroom with students seated. The experience is designed to accommodate for the limited movement space available in classrooms and so only movement of the head is required to look around and interact with objects.

Additionally, you might find us at a local science or career fair as part of our event pop-up service.

What schools say about us

... a worthwhile activity to enhance the curriculum. Using VR has the potential [for students] to see things they are unlikely to get the experience to see otherwise.

Our research shows that students find the content easy to understand and rate the teaching style highly (4 or 5 stars out of 5)
